Coronary Angiogram
A Coronary Angiogram is a specialised diagnostic procedure used to evaluate the condition of the coronary arteries—the vessels that supply blood to the heart muscle. At Sri Raju Heart & Skin Hospital, this procedure is performed within our cutting-edge Cath Lab, ensuring safety, precision, and speed.
This test is crucial for patients experiencing symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, or unexplained fatigue, and is often recommended for those at risk of coronary artery disease. During angioplasty, a thin tube – called catheter inserted through the wrist or groin. A balloon catheter is passed to the affecter blood arteries and the inflated to modify the plaque in the arterial wall, widening the passage and improving the blood flow. A special contrast dye is then injected, which makes the coronary arteries visible on X-ray imaging.
Through this live imaging, our interventional cardiologists can detect any narrowing, blockages, or structural abnormalities in the arteries. The results help in determining the best treatment strategy—whether it’s medication management, angioplasty, or surgery.
The entire procedure typically takes less than an hour, and because it's minimally invasive, most patients can return home the same day with only a few hours of monitoring. We prioritise patient comfort and safety with thorough pre-procedure counseling and post-procedure care.
At Sri Raju Heart & Skin Hospital, our goal is to ensure that advanced cardiac diagnostics like coronary angiograms are available and affordable to the community. Early detection through this test can prevent major cardiac events, offering patients a chance at timely and effective treatment.
